The STUDIOTORINO Spyder is the first example of what we mean by fine sports cars. It is produced in a limited number of not over 49 specimens.

Details and mechanics will be personalized as requested by the client. This first limited edition has been preceded by two different prototypes numbered P rototype 1/2(RUF RK Spyder) and P rototype 2/2(RUF R Spyder).

They have been created in collaboration with Alois Ruf ( www.ruf-automobile.de ) who has developed the mechanical, performance and certification aspects.

005
In the fall of 2004, Aldo Brovarone , car stylist and dear friend of Alfredo Stola , sketches his vision of the car. The design for what will then be called the RUF RK Spyder clearly begins to come to life.

Brovarone's design of the large integrated side air-intakes, the harmonious rear design and the absence of door handles interpret Alfredo Stola 's vision of understated simplicity of the car body.

011

Of the numerous specialists who have been part of the RUF RK Spyder project for STUDIOTORINO special mention must be made of the following individuals:
Marco Finazzi and Luigi Lucaora of the AVUS that has been dedicated to the construction the light alloy wheels.

014Maria Paola Stola at the PPG color research center.Liviana Sesia of PPG ‘s Research Center who has contributed to the creation of the innovative and exclusive black paint and the two zenith red stripes on the rear fenders.

The choice of colors of the bodywork and the interior has been done by Maria Paola Stola.

Since the beginning of the project, the pilot and his driving pleasure have been a priority –his desire to live in symbiosis with the world around him. Driving pleasure must take into consideration factors like road condition, air, sun, and fear of driving in harsh weather conditions on curvy and slippery roads. Beyond being a passion, sport is a challenge. It is to measure up to oneself; it is pure pleasure. Speed is relative–pleasure is intimate and personal.

015Like the first modern sports cars of the 1950's, the Spyder crafted by STUDIOTORINO is topless. Naturally, it is a roadster.

It is understated and essential, never brash and yet aggressive in a minimalist manner.
It is tailored to the pilot and co-pilot like an haute-couture dress.
It is powerful, but not excessively. It's RUF powerplant guarantees approx. 440 bhp (323 kW), but mostly a very high torque at any RPM. Shall we talk about speed? Let's say about 280 km/h . True and easy to reach –but let's not forget legal speed limits.

The first two models, P 1/2 and P 2/2 have been personalized for Alois Ruf and the STUDIOTORINO team. All successive models are designed according to the personality, taste and needs of those friends and clients who share our same passion for exclusive objects that are refined, handcrafted and of extraordinary quality.
The collaboration of the following Turin companies was essential to our success: SALT for the upholstering of the interiors, ADM Painting for the paint and F&S by Flavio Secoli for the model developing, the construction of the molds and detailing and the assembly.

DETAILS AND TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS

020Layout defining the original, modified and new details.

The body of the STUDIOTORINO Spyder , including the bumpers, is in part a modification and in part an ex novo construction. All that is left of the original body is the front left fender. The materials used for the custom body are aluminum sheets, steel sheets and carbon fibers.

021022

One of the fundamental characteristics of the car, owing to Alfredo Stola 's know-how, is the painting process, which aims to research the best light reflection effects on the body. The painting process lasts ten days. It begins with a complete manual re-working of the surface and the application of primers followed by five coats of paint at 80º with intense depth PPG car refinishing products.
After this first painting phase is completed, following the STUDIOTORINO Spyder 's aesthetic philosophy, a second color is used to trace two lines on the rear fenders.
A third color is employed to paint the name plate on the rear hood. At the end of this process, a transparent enamel is sprayed followed by meticulous water sanding and hand polishing using abrasive paste and polish.

023

024Three “jewels” of the project cannot go unnoticed: the fuel tank lid, the third brake lights and the muffler. Milled from forged aluminum and hand finished, they have been manufactured following an exclusive design.

Due to the lowering of the windshield frame and the two lateral windows, these have been custom built by ISOCLIMA, a leading Italian firm. Both the certification code and the STUDIOTORINO logo have been silk screened onto the glass.

For safety reasons, the original steel tubes inserted in the struts have not been modified.

025

Every STUDIOTORINO name plate has been hand made one by one by RAGNI, an historic Turin company. Name plates have also been placed above the side air intakes of the rear fenders and on the wheel center caps.

The wheels are another aesthetic singularity of STUDIOTORINO. The rims have been designed from Marco Finazzi and manufactured by AVUS. Exclusively developed for this project, they are made of forged aluminum, composed of three pieces and have five spokes. FULDA has specifically designed and produced the tires only for the first two prototypes of STUDIOTORINO from their Carat Excelero series. All is completed by a specific and powerful BREMBO braking system with aluminum brackets and cast iron discs

Since the car is topless, special attention has been focused on the aesthetics of the interior.

The lower part of the dashboard, the steering wheel, the door panels, and the center console have been hand upholstered with luxury leather by POLTRONA FRAU.
026

The seats are designed and built by SPARCO. The electrically reclining seats are made of carbon fiber using POLTRONA FRAU leather.

The seats are made of carbon fiber and are hand upholstered using lavishly innovative POLTRONA FRAU leather. The leather used for the seats has been specially engineered for a topless sports car: it reflects sunrays and maintains a constant temperature even after having been exposed to the sun for long periods of time.

The brake and clutch pedals are personalized, especially built in alluminum with a rubber insert, signed STUDIOTORINO.

The rollbar, even if brush and re-painted, it is original, such as the belts and all the security feathers of the windscreen.

An elegant plaquette on the central console shows the series number of the automobile.

As for the choice of the “heart” of the Spyder by STUDIOTORINO , the client has the option of choosing the type of engine preferred. According to his needs, the client may choose an injection engine, with a 3200cc or 3800 cc Kompressor engine.
RUF elaboration 3.8 litre Kompressor engine.
The engine is a 24-valve six-cylinder engine that has a supercharger with an adapted water-cooled intercooler. This engine provides improved acceleration, torque and top speed.

029

The basis of this Kompressor engine is a centrifugal compressor with a planetary gearbox –a kind of mechanical turbo charger, which is driven mechanically by a Poly-Rip belt. The maximum boost is 0,5 bar. The engine has a RUF designed intake manifold, modified injectors, sports catalytic converters and a modified electronic engine management system.

The supercharged 3.8 litre engine of the provides a 440 bhp (323 kW) at 7,000 RPM and 501 Nm torque at 5,500 RPM.
The acceleration from 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph with a RUF Kompressor Engine takes only 4.4 sec., from 0–200 km/h (0–125 mph) only 13.6 sec. The maximum speed is 280 km/h (175 mph).
